At twenty-two years old, Sydney is enjoying a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers that Hunter is cheating on her—and she’s forced to decide what her next move should be.

Soon, Sydney finds herself captivated by her mysterious and attractive neighbor, Ridge. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. They soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one.

A passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance, Maybe Someday will immerse readers in Sydney’s tumultuous world from the very first page.

Colleen Hoover is, once again, successful in making me want to jump off a building because everything hurts my heart shatter to pieces. There are a lot of heart shattering moments in this read. Maybe it should have been titled Shatter instead of Maybe Someday... but then again, there's a reason why this book is titled that way.

This isn't your typical "boy-meets-girl-and-they-fall-in-love" love story. No, it doesn't exactly sport scenarios of tragedy as opposed to Ugly Love but there's a subtle hint of equivalence in both stories. Maybe Someday is a passionate, compelling romance that will leave you emotionally drained in the end.

Sydney is forced to move out after she finds out her boyfriend has been cheating on her with her roommate/best friend, and ends up lounging next door with a boy she barely even knows. All she knows about him is his name, and that he's an absolutely talented guitarist. Her amazing knack for writing lyrics becomes the key to Ridge's mental block, as he's been trying to write originals on paper. Hence, the duo, together, begin to spend their time making beautiful music.

"Truths are written, never said... Lines are drawn, but then they fade."

Prior to their first up close and personal meeting, Sydney and Ridge have formed an innocent attraction for one another from afar. No doubt about that. But when their friendship combined with the undeniable chemistry develops into something more, they get thrust in a confusing yet tempting game neither shouldn't even dare to play.

"Our souls aren't just compatible -- they're perfectly attuned."

To quote Tika of Fangirl Confessions, "Colleen Hoover just gets relationships. [She] gets people", is basically an accurate description of how incredible I believe this author is, despite only having read one book of hers besides this one. The first person narrative style of Maybe Someday with inter-changing point of views between Sydney and Ridge were in perfect sync; [Colleen Hoover] captures raw emotions through her characters that are just so realistic with such depth that will leave you with feelings of heartache and regret. If Ugly Love left you feeling broken and scarred, this would pretty much do the same thing.

COLOR ME SURPRISED

Love triangles are often a deal breaker for me, but despite how this book features one, I loved it. It was nothing close to the cliche "I don't know who to choose" dilemma and was definitely a whole different level. I didn't feel the annoyance that usually took over me whenever I read such stories but, by god, this book had my feelings all over the place. I loved the intensity between the characters, the painful confusion that slowly ruins all them one by one. I know this sounds like a very dramatic read... because it is, although there are moments of fun and amusing moments during the friendships formed between the characters.

Another thing that hooked me was the music; the songs and the lyrics. Throughout the book, Sydney and Ridge spend their time composing songs, hence, lyrics are written. What surprised me about this book was that Colleen Hoover actually collaborated with a real musician -- Griffin Peterson, to be exact -- to bring all these beautiful songs to life! The soundtrack can be heard on her website at the bonus features section.

What somehow bothered me was the fact that this book didn't have an epilogue, thus I thought it lacked closure on my behalf. However, I did find out that Colleen Hoover had a few tricks up her sleeve. If you check out her website, she included a short epilogue -- also as part of the bonus features -- which was pretty much a breath of fresh air from all the drama.

Maybe Someday is a book that will definitely play with your emotions. It's fast paced and a slow burn at the same time with a fantastic plot twist that appears early on in the story. There is no doubt that you will fall in love with at least every single one of the characters, especially Sydney and Ridge... I know I did. Pick this book up and let Colleen Hoover work her magic on you.

  2. It is so weird to me how and author can turn something I usually hate into something magical (love triangles). I need to read something by this author ASAP and I love how you quoted Tika :D I like that the characters are musically talented... I've always been a big music lover :) I'll definitely have to try this one.

  14. I love your review, Blessie! I'm glad you loved it! Lol @ Tika, CoHo DOES just get relationships. The whole love triangle thing might have bothered me, but it was completely real. I can completely understand how it happened. CoHo just writes all her characters so well that my heart broke for Maggie even though she wasn't the female MC. (:
