When Tucker Branch, playboy heir to Branch Bolt and Screw, screws and bolts a week before their wedding, Mia Devine wants nothing more than to crawl under her newly monogrammed sheets and plan a funeral for her dignity. But her friends convince her that bitter tastes better when it’s drowned in Bordeaux, so Mia grits her teeth and packs her bags, determined to make the best of her luxurious Paris honeymoon—alone.

She never planned on meeting Lucas Fournier.

The easygoing bartender’s scruffy good looks and less-than-sympathetic ear annoy her at first, but when she takes him up on his offer to show her around the city, she discovers that the romance of Paris isn’t just a myth.

Nor is the simultaneous O.

The last thing Mia needs is another doomed love affair, but since she only has a week, she figures she might as well enjoy la vie en O with Lucas while she can. But each day—and night—with Lucas is better than the last, and suddenly her heart is telling her this is more than a rebound fling.

Is it just the seduction of Paris…or could this be the real thing?

First things first. I feel like I'm getting less amused by smexy reads. It always happens the same way. They meet, they spend some time as friends, they screw, they go on a trip, and screw some more, then an ex comes into the picture followed by some nasty drama, then they make up and then happily ever after! All these reads were just too redundant, in my opinion. But I still enjoyed this read, nonetheless.

After a terrible break up with her ex-fiance and a lot of convincing from her best friends, Mia travels to Paris for some "alone time" on her supposed honeymoon trip. On her first night in Paris, her bitter self meets Lucas, a hot and sexy bartender/guitarist and gets offerred to be toured during her stay.

The characters were amusing, especially Mia. You could say that she's got a little bit of an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, wanting to make lists and plans all the time. She's obsessed with goals and schedules and objectives. Heck, the woman has no spontaneous bone in her body, until she met Lucas. Meanwhile, Lucas was every girl's Parisian dream guy. The lone artist lover who adores museums and cemeteries and writes poetry and plays sonnetts. That's basically who Lucas is, and by god, I was swooned.

The romance was undeniably sexy and steamy, and although the time span of the whole book was just pretty much like a week, the pacing appeared to be just right and didn't seem to be rushed at all.

The only downfall to this book, as mentioned earlier, was that it's somehow no different to most romantic comedy books I've read. Although quite bland and repetitive, it was still a likeable read. If you're looking for a quick, sexy, swoon worthy read, Frenched is what you should pick up.

  1. Sorry this was a bit repetitive and bland. Too bad it wasn't just a bit more stand out and fun.
    Wonderful honest review!

    1. It just sucked that it wasn't as funny as I expected it to be. :/

  2. Time span of the whole book being only a week . . . * cringes * lol. Besides the cover warranting a side-eye from me, (you know how I feel about my covers) this actually sounds like something I would read. I've had some pretty good luck with adult books set in Paris, so maybe reading this will add to that Parisian atmosphere that I absolutely love. I'm still cringing at the thought of insta-attraction, love, you know that thing lol.

    1. It's more of an insta-lust than an insta-love, but I mean, who wouldn't be so attracted to a hot French guy who offers to give you a tour during your stay in Paris? I would seriously jump the guy IMMEDIATELY. HAHA!

  3. There is always some predictability in a romance novel - I agree, reading them back to back starts to get repetitive. It is fun to read a unique one in the bunch, though! And sometimes I enjoy a predictable happily ever after, just not back to back and not when there isn't something that gives it a new edge. I do love a light read in between book hangovers though :D

    1. Yeah, it's a good read if you need something light and quick, but it didn't have the oomph I was looking for in most rom com novels.

  4. Some days, I can't get enough romance in my life. At the moment, I'm obsessed with Kate Perry's books. Have you read them?

    1. I've never heard of Kate Perry and I honestly thought you were talking about the singer until I saw your review! I do want to check out her summerhills (I think?) series. :D

  5. Teehee! I've started to enjoy these types of books less and less. I have sooo many of them on my Kindle and, you're right, they are so repetitive. Same story, different names. (: I love your honest review! (:

    1. Yeah, I thought it would be a different kind of funny, but I was wrong, lol. But it's a good read for getting out of a book hangover though. :D

  7. I've stopped reading a lot of "sexier" books for the same reason - that I find them all very repetitive. I've even been reading YA just because I know it will focus more on the romance aspect than the sexy aspect, and will therefore hopefully be a little bit different!

Hopefully you'll find something that'll make you fall in love with genre again soon!

    1. Oh don't get me wrong, I love the sexy, but the whole story progress is just too repetitive, lol. I don't mind reading about the sexy because that's what I luuuurve about romance books. ;D And I'm still in love with the genre, donchu worry dear! Just a tad bored, but bearable. :D

  8. Other than the repetitiveness of the story, the setting sounds really nice! Hope your next read is better. :)

  9. Your feeling are why I mix genres and go from paranormal, to historical to fantasy and then mix up my romances from suspense to small-town, western and super smexy. This type of book is a light read to me, where I know it will be predictable and a fast read.
