Cue Sad Music & Rain [Sunday Post #2 & Stacking the Shelves #10]
23 August 2015
*Sunday Post is a weekly meme created by Caffeinated Book Reviewer where we share news or showcase stuff happening on the blog or around the blogosphere.
Rain is pouring and we've got a terrible storm (mostly wind rather than rainfall) and it just ruined my weekend hangout with the besties because we thought it might be dangerous to leave the house. Plus, the widdo bwudder left three days ago, though he almost missed his flight because some dumb airline agent held up his passport, but all is well and my brother's back home enjoying my mom's cakes and pastries without me, hah!
Aaaand, I'm lonely. I do live with my grandma and a few relatives, but still, having the broski around was such a hoot! We're tight like that even though we're 5 years apart. Now I'm going to have to wait for next year to come when he finally travels back for good. (Yipee!)
I also gave Harry (my 5 year old laptop, because HP, hah!) away to the broski, which they'll probably sell away after they get it fixed. Oh it was just so hard to let go of it, because it's been with me since college and all my late night projects and research papers all went through that baby. Oh, good times.
I've recently bought a new one, it's an ASUS (I honestly forgot what model) and I've named it Ace, but Harry will always be in my heart.
Also, the day before the broski's departure, we watched Inside Out and it was the feelsiest (is that even a word?) movie I've ever seen! I actually had to hold back my tears because I didn't want to cry in the theatre, hah! (Spoiler Alert: Bing Bong! Bing Bong!) But enough of that, I'm saving my thoughts on the movie for an official movie review. Yes, you read that right, Mischievous Reads is about to start posting movie reviews! I'm still trying to decide what rating system would be more effective: a 1-5 or a 1-10?
CURRENT READS
I should call this the Set-Aside-For-Now pile, because it's taking me ages to finish!
Where Sea Meets Sky by Karina Halle - There's something in this book that I'm not exactly enjoying but I can't pin point it. Feels kind of bland? I haven't continued past 16% because it's not calling to me. I would try to pick it up and finish it real soon, though!
I don't know about you but I'm a big fan of cool, action packed movies, especially the Marvel/DC movies. Now, I'm not a comic reader, but I am pretty familiar with every character's backstory, but I wouldn't dare say something like "Ugh, the movie sucks, the comic was better." Nah, nevermind that, I'm only here for the gunshots, explosions, SFX and the CGI!
But, Deadpool would be my favorite and I'm so excited for this movie! He's known for his hilarious puns and jokes and tends to break the fourth wall. Not only that, he's a character who regenerates due to an experiment gone wrong. Ryan Reynolds is BORN to play Deadpool! He's freaking hilarious!
Also, I've got this song stuck in my head after watching the Cinderella movie adaptation, and I've been humming it every freaking time.
I like a good storm, but I prefer rain more than the wind. I have been curious about Karina Halle and Jessica Lemmon. Hope you enjoy these new books. My recent post Book Review-The Night Is Mine
Glad you had a great time visiting and oh my gosh, HP=Harry, I love it! I can't believe I didn't think of that! I had to get a new laptop last year and it really was hard to say goodbye to my old one even though I adore my new one (and HP, dang it and I already named it LOL!). My recent post Review: This Monstrous Thing by Mackenzi Lee
It's always sad to say goodbye to family, especially when we have so much fun with them while we're together :D I'm sure you'll have just as much fun when he comes back in a year, blessie.
I watched Inside Out this week, too, and I actually DID cry! I was with three of my kids, and we all agreed it was a great movie full of feels :D I have no idea how I'd rate a movie, I would probably go with the same rating system I use for books.
Your new books look great! I enjoyed Burying Water, and I hope you will too!
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading. My recent post The Sunday Post #46
Thanks, Lexxie! It was such an emotional week for me, lol, with the broski leaving and the movie. Haha! Glad to know I wasn't the only one who cried! ;D
Aw. I know you'll miss your brother. Inca tell you guys are really close. I hope the books will save you from your melancholy. My recent post Hoarders, Books Edition: Episode 157
Ooh nice new reads! Haven't read any of these myself, but hope you enjoy them!
Ugh, weather! Weather seems to always want to ruin things! LOL. And wow, you had your laptop as about as long as I had my first one. I had to get rid of it last year sadly, because it had Windows XP and I received a message that basically said Windows would no longer support it. That laptop was nearly 10 years old too! Would've been 10 this year, but instead my new one turned one in May or March...totally can't remember because I think I had to wait until May until I could really start using it! LOL!
You got Lemmon and Tucker two of my favorites..enjoy!! We had those storms earlier in the week and now the temps are fall like. Hope your week ahead is delightful and sunny! My recent post Sunday Post #175- Rain, Sleepless Nights and Awesome Reads
I hate storms actually. Not so much during the day, but in the middle of the night they make me incredibly nervous. A big improvement from when I was little though, as I was petrified and would cry during storms up until my late teens. Yeah, I'm really weird like that. Ooh, movie reviews! I never know what's coming out and would love to see more book bloggers branching out. I think with movies, maybe go the 10 stars and break down the rating? Hope you enjoy your lovely new reads Blessie <3 My recent post Armada by Ernest Cline... Game Over
Oh, I feel you, Kelly. I experienced being stranded outside during a storm and a crazy flood so now I've developed some kind of anxiety whenever it rains hard and I'm not home. I think the 10 star rating sounds good. Thanks, Kelly!
YAY to the new computer cuz let's face it, you needed a new one ;) Sad to see Carlos leaving, but yay for him coming home for good next year! You won't be so lonesome anymore :D Vicious looks good, I need to finally pick up a book from this author! My recent post Book Review: What You Left Behind
AH, I totally love it that you named each of your laptop. That's so cute, especially Harry. And you've already watched Inside Out! I am way too excited about that movie, and I'm going to watch it this weekend. I shall bring a packet of tissues, just in case HAHA. And hmmm, I think a 1-10 rating would be cool for a movie review, because there's loads of ways to describe them. It could be awesome, but not something you would rewatch. It could also be awesome, but not that memorable? HAHA just some ideas :)
I'm hoping for some rain soon here. Although we've had some wonderful sunny, almost fall like weather here. Hope you have a great week! Check out my Sunday Post
